Comparing the Honeywell BW GasAlert Monitors
9th Mar 2023
As part of our mission to provide our customers with the greatest and most effective range of safety products, we’ve teamed up with a number of businesses and suppliers that we’re immensely proud to work with. One such company is Honeywell, who has been coming up with innovative technology solutions for over one hundred years.
Honeywell’s storied history has seen them work within a large variety of different industries, but obviously, it's their impressive work with gas detectors that caught our attention.
Currently, Point Safety stocks a multitude of Honeywell products, but if you’re looking for a monitor from the Honeywell BW series in particular, then today we’re going to be comparing the three we stock and exploring which one may be best for your specific needs.
Honeywell’s BW GasAlert Series
Each of the Honeywell BW Gas Alert devices can track H2S, CO, O2 and combustibles, reliably monitoring up to four gases simultaneously, making them incredibly useful for work areas with multiple potential hazards.
All three monitors are also compatible with the Intellidox automated test and calibration system, saving you time and money on your calibrations.
1. The Honeywell BW GasAlert Max XT II
The Max XT II is a rugged durable device with a straightforward design. Tamper-proof and user adjustable, the device can be customised to your liking, making it a savvy choice for people looking for something that gets the job done with ease.
The monitor is powered by a rechargeable battery pack that allows for up to 13 hours of power and features new SmartSample pump technology that allows for easier remote sampling in confined spaces.
2. The Honeywell BW GasAlert MicroClip XL
The MicroClip XL was the updated version of the original best-selling MicroClip XT, and boasts an incredible 18-hour battery life.
Like the XT II and X3, the XL features a simple, user-friendly interface as well as a thin, lightweight design. It’s incredibly cost-effective, and has proven to be reliable for a number of years
3. The Honeywell BW GasAlert MicroClip X3 (Make this number 3)
The MicroClip X3 is the natural successor to the MicroClip XL, now incorporating its long-lasting oxygen sensor that’s guaranteed to deliver sustained, accurate performance throughout the device's lifetime, saving you the added costs that come with replacing sensors.
The monitor has the capability to run for at least 12 hours and can maintain its accuracy in extremely cold temperatures. The device also boasts complete dust resistance and can be immersed in up to 1.2 metres of water for up to 45 minutes.
Conclusion
In short, they’re all excellent devices, each with their own unique strengths and selling points.
Obviously, the GasAlert MicroClip XL is a well-proven, budget gas detector so if money is a big factor then it’s definitely worth considering, especially considering it shares the ability to monitor multiple gases at once and is compatible with the Intellidox like both its peers.
As the only pumped unit of the three, the Max XT is a great choice for those who want to sample remotely and need to work in confined spaces.
Thanks to its long-lasting sensors, the MicroClip X3 provides more value for money in the long run without breaking the bank.
